Beach Trip 08

We just returned from a quick jaunt over to Pacific City, for a few days of relaxation.  Ariah was really excited about the beach and building sand castles as she has seen it done many times in one of her favorite Word World episodes.  As you’ll see in the pictures, she came away from that experience with mixed reviews.  We had a great time, though.  How about those opening ceremonies to the Olympics?  When they unrolled that gigantic LCD screen, I about lost my mind.  While I have mixed feelings on the Olympics being in China, that was extremely cool.  Anyway, back to real life.  Here are the pics…

2-year appointment…

Still recovering from the shin-dig that was Ariah’s 2nd birthday party, we ventured over to the doctor’s office for her 2-year checkup.  (That’s right people, we now talking years, not months.)  Great news all-round with Ariah now tipping the scales at 24lbs (20%) and a length of 34.5″ (75%).  Those are both huge increases since her 18-month appointment.

Speaking of the party, we had a nice Saturday morning affair with mostly family in attendance.  Playing the role of this year’s birthday cake, Shyla and her dad made a layered sorbet dessert with toasted coconut that was amazing!  Here are a few snaps courtesy of Uncle Travis:

What a Weekend!

What started off as a mostly wide open weekend, ended up being pretty action packed.  I didn’t have any early meetings, so we went to the zoo in the morning.  I just can’t say enough about being able to breeze in and out, a few hours at a time.  We had the Africa exhibit mostly to ourselves for about an hour and after about another hour with the growing crowd, we were on our way home.  We had a great time and I was still able to get my hours in, so it was perfect.

Saturday was our annual Rassmussen family reunion at my Great Aunt Shirley’s.  Despite not taking a nap all day, Ariah did very well mixing with the extended family.  Once the weather warmed up, this ended up being a lot of fun, as usual.

Sunday was pretty light.  The Sunday after Camp Meeting is always relaxed since there’s no Sunday School or evening service.  After the morning meeting, we went out to lunch with Uncle Brian & Trisha before they headed back home.  After a long nap by all, we went up to the playground at Washington Park and had a blast.  Good times…

Here’s a picture that our friend Kenny Cripps took during Camp Meeting.
